Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, Westhill Central School District will be providing full day universal prekindergarten (UPK) for four-year old children. The cost of this program will be funded by New York State through the Universal Prekindergarten Expansion Funding. Westhill will be partnering with the YMCA as a community-based organization for two anticipated classrooms (maximum of 18 children per class). The YMCA will host the two classrooms at Onondaga Community College. Each UPK class will be staffed by one certified teacher and one teaching assistant. The program is five days per week and five hours per day. Students will be required to attend the full week.
To be eligible for the program, children must:
have a birthdate between December 2, 2017 and December 1, 2018,
reside in the Westhill Central School District, and
agree to attend the program 5 hours a day for 5 days per week.
If there are more students interested than seats available, a random, computerized lottery will be held. All families will be contacted to be updated on their child’s status of accepted or waitlisted. Registration packets will be mailed to accepted families after the lottery is conducted.
If you are interested in having your child attend UPK for the 2022-2023 school year please fill out this form and submit no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
