The Westill CSD Technology Committee best practice recommendations were developed to achieve the following goals:

• Reduce the cost associated with printing: ink cartridges, paper, maintenance on printers, management of printers;
• Develop the skills of our students who will will most likely be working in a "cloud" environment and not be printing as a matter of habit;
• Protect the planet from over use of green house inducements, and reduce the number of trees targeted for paper production.

Best Practices of Printing:

• Use the CNYRIC web print services
• Consider and create paperless assignments for students rather than traditional paper work;
• Don't print to color if the majority of the page content is black and white;
• Check drafts of print jobs before printing, and print black and white as a hard copy draft if needed before printing to color;
• Consider scanning to color on the copiers to post to digital environments -- think pdf;
• Work in the "cloud" and consider having students create content in the cloud instead of printing and making packets.
