ECOS Circulates Books for Earth Day

ECOS Circulates Books for Earth Day

In April, ECOS celebrated Earth Day by holding a “Reuse Reading & Record Event” at Westhill High School. The event collected used books, records and CDs donated by Westhill students and their families. The goal of this event was to keep used items in circulation, as opposed to buying new or disposing of unwanted items. The event was a great success! All those that donated received book vouchers to attend the event and pick out “new” items. Jaideep Dhamoon and Sydney Hart provided live music at the event. As part of our outreach, over 100 children’s books were boxed and sent to Cambodia through KIDTEA. These books will be used to help set up a school library in the Trang Village in Cambodia. Any remaining books were then donated to the Onondaga and Solvay Free Libraries, which they will use as rewards for their summer reading programs! Interested in helping KIDTEA?  Please visit: Questions or feedback on ways to continue outreach, please contact Mrs. Weinsztok, ECOS Club Advisor, at:
