Cherry Road Reads

Cherry Road Reads is a program that the Cherry Road Literacy Committee began in the spring of 2007. It is modeled after the Onondaga County Public Library's "CNY Reads" program. The goal is to have as many Cherry Road students and faculty as possible read the book during the month.

The book selection for this month is Clementine, by Sara Pennypacker. Pick up a copy and start reading today! Copies are available at Barnes and Noble on Erie Blvd and Borders in Carousel Mall, as well as your local library. Mrs. Backus also has copies available for purchase or loan at the Cherry Road library.

Already reading the book and want to discuss it with others? Go to Mrs. Berkery's home page and click on the Clementine blog, at the bottom of the page. Password is orange. Reply to messages or start a new question about the book.

Families are encouraged to read the selected titles together. Reading to young children promotes language acquisition and literacy development and, later on, achievement in reading comprehension and overall success in school. (Family Reading. NCES Fast Facts. Reading together is a wonderful shared experience. Just 15 to 20 minutes of reading each day can be so beneficial for your child.
