Cherry Road Reads is a program that the Cherry Road Literacy Committee began in the spring of 2007. It is modeled after the Onondaga County Public Library's "CNY Reads" program. The goal is to have as many Cherry Road students and faculty as possible read the book during the month.
Families are encouraged to read the selected titles together. Reading to young children promotes language acquisition and literacy development and, later on, achievement in reading comprehension and overall success in school. (Family Reading. NCES Fast Facts. Our first title of the year has just been announced as Stuart's Cape by Sara Pennypacker! Students have already started to enjoy this fun story filled with adventures!
Reading together is a wonderful shared experience. Just 15 to 20 minutes of reading each day can be so beneficial for your child.
